300 Years of Weaving
Bota-ori is a textile from Takamatsu City in Kagawa Prefecture, with roots going back to the early Edo period. It was presented as an official fabric to the lord of the Takamatsu Domain under the Matsudaira clan, and is designated as a traditional craft by the Japanese government.
Its distinctive waffle-like weave creates a softly raised texture that is breathable in summer and gentle against the skin in winter.
