Sanada-himo Cat Collars
A flat woven cotton cord.
It is said to have started as an everyday rope for carrying goods, before finding its way into samurai armor, tea ceremony tools, and kimono obi fastenings. A cord that has quietly woven itself through Japanese life across the ages.
Durable, resistant to fraying and fading, and the kind of material that only gets better with time. Yet it weighs just 5.5g, including the buckle. Its slim profile reduces friction on the fur, making it gentle on the neck and less likely to cause fur thinning.
Banshu-ori Diamond Bandanas
Banshu-ori is a traditional pre-dyed woven textile from Nishiwaki City in Hyogo Prefecture. Because the threads are dyed before weaving, the fabric has rich color depth and a distinctive luster.
The diamond-shaped bandana is an original L&L PAWS design and can be attached simply by sliding it onto the collar.
The diamond shape (hishi-mon) is one of Japan’s oldest patterns, found on Jōmon pottery and later in Heian court dress alike. It has long been associated with wishes for health and well-being.

Breakaway Buckle
This collar uses a safety buckle that automatically releases when a certain amount of force is applied, such as if the collar gets caught on furniture or fencing.
By releasing, it helps prevent choking or excessive strain on the neck.
We use the Duraflex “Kitty Clip” safety buckle, made in the USA.Release load: approx. 10 lbs / 4.5 kg.

How to Measure Your Cat’s Neck
Measure the narrowest part of your cat's neck with a soft tape measure or string when your cat is relaxed and sitting upright. Lying down tends to give an inaccurate reading.
Add a little extra room to the measurement for a comfortable fit.
Short-haired cats: measured length + 2–3cm (about 1–2 fingers)
Long-haired cats: measured length + 4–5cm (about 2–3 fingers)
A collar that is too tight can cause fur breakage or skin irritation.
Too loose, and it may catch in the mouth during grooming.
Materials, Weight & Comfort
Sanada-himo is a flat woven 100% cotton cord. We also occasionally offer collars in silk. No synthetic materials are used to make our collars.
The collar weighs just 5.5g, including the safety buckle, which is remarkably light for a breakaway collar. Paired with the diamond bandana, the total weight is only 7g.
The collar cord moves naturally with your cat's neck. Its narrow contact surface means less friction against the fur.
